Wednesday-Friday, Bill will be traveling to Atlanta to present at the NAIS Annual Conference, and Clare will be in charge in the Middle School. If you're planning to be at the Auction on Saturday, you're in for a treat with the fund-a-need video...no spoilers!Next year...
At Thursday's faculty meeting, Christian joined us to talk about significant staffing changes for next year, including new roles and a change in teaching assignments. On Friday, we emailed everyone with a assignments for next year - to get ready for any changes and to identify any PD or other support that you need to prepare, please schedule a meeting with us through Neil.
In-service on 3/23
On March 23, Tom Bronson will be joining us for a day of professional development, focused on MYP assessment. More details will be forthcoming about the schedule of the day and topics to be addressed.
PD this spring and summer
It's time to think about professional development for the spring and summer! If you are considering any conferences, coursework, or other PD opportunities, please reach out to Bill and Susan soon to ensure funding. If you'd like to meet to talk about options, please reach out!March 14
Around the country, students are mobilizing to demonstrate in response to the shooting in Parkland, FL. US students have launched a plan to demonstrate, and, as Christian's letter in the March Flash indicated, the school will make space to support student's expression and to ensure non-disruption of teaching. On March 14, we will run a Monday schedule. At 10:00am, the MS will gather in a space TBD (probably the Lounge) to address these issues and to inform the MS about safety on campus.Grade Checks
Advisors: please send the parents of your Advisees a Grade Check email, and ask for a response by the end of the week. Please remind your Advisees' parents to sign up for a conference (signup via Pick-a-time will open on Monday).
Summer work...
Planning for summer? Already? Please take a look at the work outlined for Summer News 2018. If you anticipate any changes, please update the doc directly before Spring Break.Maintenance, Furniture, Updating, etc...
This is the time of year that Mark and his team set their schedule and priorities for maintenance and updating that happens over the summer. If you have any ideas or requests, please log them on MS Space Ideas and Requests 2018. These requests could range from absolute necessity to pie-in-the-sky ideas. Please take a look around your classrooms and other spaces - if you see a need or an opportunity for updating, please put it on the list!Kudos...

Absences & Substitute Teachers
Anelisa has developed a form to streamline planning for substitute teachers. MS Faculty Substitute Plans is designed for anticipated absences - it captures the schedule for the day, and asks the teacher to drop sub plans directly into the doc. Please take a look - if you have any feedback or questions about the form, please contact Anelisa.
On a related note, please take a look at the Faculty Absence Coverage Protocols. There's nothing new in here (except using to the MS Faculty Substitute Plans) - just a reminder. If you'll be out last minute, please remember to text Bill AND Anelisa at the earliest possible moment to notify of absence. Also, please be sure to complete the Employee Absence Form as soon as you return.
Accessing the OCC
If you haven't already, please be sure to log onto the replacement for the OCC. Below is the video John showed us. Please follow the directions to make a new account for IBO.org. Once you have done this, John will be notified by email that you have set up a new account (old ones for the OCC won’t work and you need to register as new). John and Clare are happy to help in any way we can, please reach out if you need help with this process. It would be great to have all MS teachers registered before Feb break.
Ordering & Supplies
Just a reminder - please direct all requests for supplies and special orders through the form the Neil created. The form is also linked in the Important Links list on this blog.
