Earth Day
From the Green Team:- All students and faculty/staff are participating. Parents are welcome.
- Garfield Park, 1:15-3:00pm. Please plan to be down there at 1:15. We will have gloves for everyone, but kids are welcome to bring their own.
- We will be in the same 3 zones as in years past and grouped cross divisionally.
- The field will be closed, so we will stay on the gravel paths.
- Kids (and you!) can wear civvies all day appropriate for pulling weeds— jeans are recommended (yes, you heard that correctly), shoes/boots and long sleeves. It may be warm, but pulling weeds/blackberries needs heavy coverage.
- If we need to cancel because of the weather, we will do that by Thursday. Please have a back up plan ready just in case. The Green Team this year does not yet have the capacity to pull together an all school Plan B, but next year we will.
If the event is cancelled on Thursday, we will have a normal C-Day schedule, and we'll do Clubs during the Mid-Morning Break.
Chapel
Just a reminder: upcoming MS Chapels will be led by the following Advisory groups:
- April 26 Strate
- May 10: Hartmann/Finch
- May 17: Hunt
- May 31: Taylor
If your group needs a different date, there is a little bit of flexibility (May 24 could swap). For details about awareness months or holidays, see the MS tab or the Cultural & Religious Observances tab on Chapel Planning 2016-2017.
Updating, Refurbishing, and Fixing...

This week, the blog for families will feature the Arts and Math programs. Please email your post to Bill or Alicia, or drop it in the corresponding box on this doc.Following up...
The Big Visit
At the exit interview on Friday, our Visiting Team was really excited to offer feedback and had high praise for the work we've done and the program we offer students. They were really impressed with our students, with whom they interacted on tours and while visiting classrooms, and were complimentary about the team of educators that we have in place. None of the feedback they offered was "official" or indicative of any recommendations that they'll make, but we'll learn about that in several months. For now, it's enough to say thank you and congratulations for a solid visit - we definitely put our best feet forward.
edCamp!
edCamp Puget Sound is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, starting at 9am. Annie Wright will host for the second straight year. One of this year's lead sponsors will be CorelaborateWA, a group that finds and funds teacher-leaders from around the state to spark conversation and start collaborations among educators. If edCamp already seems down your alley, click here to register. If this will be your first EdCamp, I promise you’ll be amazed, enthralled, and engaged: edCamps are open, alternative forms of professional development put on for teachers and organized by teachers. Participants themselves set the agenda, and the panels run the gamut of what educators at AWS are already experienced with or interested in. Which makes this a great opportunity to learn a new tip or resource, connect with our regional community of educators, or even start preparing & prototyping a workshop you’ve been hoping to facilitate at a much larger conference. (I might even break out the Jenga set for a presentation Sandra and I are giving this summer!) If you’re wondering how an edCamp works, check out this quick video tutorial. You’ll also have the opportunity to collect Clock Hours, should you be interested.
Upcoming Religious & Cultural Observances
