The bulk of Thursday will be designated for narrative writing.

Friday
Meetings will be scheduled from 8:30-3:00pm

I found a year-end checklist for faculty from years past and will be updating it. Check back here for an updated checklist by the start of Tuesday.

Repost: Second Semester Progress Reporting

Now, we're still a ways off from the end of the year, but I anticipate that between now and June, time will, as they say, fly. It's never to late to start thinking about Progress Reports for the end of the year. For Second Semester, I'd like to propose the following schedule:\
  • 6 June 8:00am Submit Course Summary to Course Summaries S2 2015-2016
  • 8-10 June MS Second Semester Finals
  • 17 June 8:00am Submit Student Narratives and Grades to Semester 2 Student Narratives
  • 17-20 June Review of Student Narratives and Grades by Bill & Clare
  • 21 June Posting of Semester 2 Progress Reports
As you think about writing student narratives, please keep the items noted on Example Semester Narrative in mind, both for content and formatting. 

Advisors: Let's plan another round of Grade Checks to be completed by the end of this week. A template for messaging to families about the Grade Check can be found here. This will give us a little time before the trips to address any academic concerns and set plans to implement after we return from the far corners.

Religious & Cultural Observances

  • Wednesday, June 1 marked the beginning of Caribbean American Heritage Month and LGBTQ Pride Month.
  • Monday, June 6 marked the beginning of Ramadan, the holy month in the Muslim calendar.
  • Sunday, June 12 was the Jewish holiday Shavu'ot, which celebrates the giving of the Torah to Moses at Mount Sinai.
  • Sunday, June 19 is Juneteenth, which commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. While the US Civil War formally ended on April 9, 1865, it was not until June 19, 1865, that Union troops landed at Galveston, Texas, and delivered news of the end of the war.
  • Monday, June 20 is the Summer Solstice, which is observed as Litha and Yule by Wiccan communities.
